Children Toting Trash Bags for Luggage

hefty-bag-luggageAs a Social Worker, I have had the opportunity to work in many areas of Family and Children Services, including working as a Child Abuse and Neglect Investigator. Yes, I was one of those people that removed children from their birth family’s home to keep them safe. I would go into a home, help the child(ren) gather their things, and move them. Most of the time we are in a hurry, and nine times out of ten they did not have any luggage to put their belongings in. Unfortunately, children have to gather their clothes, toiletries, toys, etc. in plastic garbage bags.

Can you imagine having to put your clothes and the things that are important to you in garbage bags?

How would that make you feel?

At Seraaj Family Homes, Inc. we want our children to know that they are valuble and that their items are valuble. We are currently conducting a “Luggage Campaign” asking for donations of slightly-used or new luggage to give to our foster children. Help us move our children with dignity, and help us to not send a negative message that, “You are trash and everything you own is trash.”

If you would like to make a donation at any of our Seraaj Family Homes, Inc. offices, contact us toll-free at 1-877-656-2638. For more info, visit www.seraajfh.com.
