Every Note is Precious

Some might think Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) are too busy to read every letter that’s sent to them. Thus, even more might think CEOs would not save these many letters sent to them. Abdul Seraaj, CEO of Seraaj Family Homes, Inc. does both.
When you enter Seraaj’s office you’re bound to find at least one personal, handwritten card or more proudly standing on his desk. You’ll find even more inside of his desk drawers. Ever note he receives is precious and he treats them as such.
Last week he entrusted me with one of these keepsakes to share with you. Angelica Renee Hill, a former SFH foster child, wrote him a letter of gratitude during the month of her high school graduation. The letter is dated May 2009. She also included her graduation announcement and school photographs. Hill graduated from Munford High School in Munford, AL on May 28, 2009.
The letter reads:
“May 21, 2009
I want to let you and the Seraaj family [know that] I want to thank God for my foster parents. They made a young woman out of me. My family didn’t want me, but when I got with Donald and Yolanda Garett they changed my life. They took me in 2002, and God and the Garretts have brought me a mighty long way. They don’t complain, but you all don’t understand how important this family is to me. Again, I want to [know] they were God-sent people to me.
Remember that every word you write or say to Seraaj will be kept close. Your words are as precious to him as you are.
