Licensing Social Worker

Locations: Birmingham-Metro Office

The Licensing Social Worker is primarily responsible for effectively recruiting new foster parents within the Communities, licensing homes of the foster parents per all applicable standards, and ensuring foster parents receive their required training. Additionally, this position effectively contributes to the growth of the Therapeutic Foster Care program. This position will be responsible for homes Jefferson County, Shelby County and surrounding Counties.

***Must hold an active LBSW or LMSW in Alabama***

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

  • Develop effective marketing strategies that will attract new foster parents and contribute to the growth of the Region and Company.
  • Establish and maintain a professional rapport with foster parents, community partners, clients, and peers.
  • Collaborate with the team on placing Therapeutic Foster Care children and families in the homes of foster parents.
  • Create and maintain an accurate tracking mechanism on all active and potential foster parents, to include all required data as directed.
  • Accurately license prospective foster homes per all applicable licensing standards and ensure the homes maintain compliance at all times.
  • Accurate create and maintain electronic records of foster parents and ensure physical files have current information.
  • Conduct routine visits to licensed homes for purposes outlined in the State Minimum Standards for Child Placing Agencies and the Therapeutic Foster Care Manual.
  • Timely and accurately complete quarterly and annual reviews of licensed homes.
  • Attend foster parent training to provide guidance and support to the participants as they work on completing licensing requirements and to provide support to the facilitators.
  • Ensure foster parent training participants complete all required training as a part of the initial licensing process and required ongoing training.
  • Be willing to become a foster parent trainer via a formal training process, as sponsored by the Company, and effectively facilitate classes when assigned.
  • Coordinate with foster parents regarding documentation needed for physical files.
  • May assist in collecting all documentation during the intake process from applicable parties (DHR Social Worker, foster parent, medical provider).
  • Assist with family support and case management duties, when needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Technical Skills

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (versions 2016 and above), such as Office 365, Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive and OneNote; ability to use Company-approved mobile applications; ability to connect to meetings, consultations and trainings via video-conferencing, such as Microsoft Teams and other approved applications; ability to use portable equipment and mobile devices, such as iPad, laptop, smartphone, hotspot and printer/scanner to perform work-related duties

Current Driver License, Dependable Personal Transportation, Current Auto Insurance, Must Pass All Legally Mandated Background Checks

Work Environment

The Social Worker generally works 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends. Work environment may be in various settings, such as: home of foster parent/client, DHR, community venues, court, churches, libraries, or any other setting that is deemed appropriate to perform duties. The Social Worker must be available to travel when needed.

Case Manager

Locations: Oxford/Anniston, Birmingham, and Huntsville

Seraaj Family Homes, Inc. is seeking a Case Manager to join our Team. The ideal candidate will provide quality, timely services to children and families as assigned.

***This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Rehabilitation Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice or a related field.***

This position is primarily responsible for (not all-inclusive):

  • Creating and maintaining a positive rapport with foster parents, children and families, employees, and service providers and professionals;
  • Ensuring children and families receive required services;
  • Providing family support, crisis intervention and mental health consultation services;
  • Providing services in the homes of the foster parents/clients and other appropriate settings;
  • Coordinating medical care for clients with specialists and other healthcare resources;
  • Assessing and advocating for options and services to meet the client’s health needs;
  • Educating the client and his/her treatment team on the programs and options available to them to meet their health needs;
  • Assisting in transporting the client to their appointments;
  • Accurately and timely entering summary of provided services in the web-based system, per policy;
  • Connecting clients to community resources based on their individual or family needs;
  • Being accessible to children, families, and internal & external customers when needed and available to report on-site in the event of a crisis;
  • Submitting required reports timely; and
  • Performing other assigned duties.

Work Environment

The Case Manager generally works a flexible schedule that depends on the needs of the client and other duties, up to 40 hours per week. Work environment will be in various settings, such as home of foster parent/client, DHR, child’s school, court appearances, or any other setting that is deemed appropriate to provide services to the child and family and to complete other duties. Traveling required.

Clinical Supervisor/Child & Family Therapist

Locations: Mobile and Oxford/Anniston

Seraaj Family Homes, Inc. is seeking Part Time & Full-Time Licensed Therapists to join team throughout the State of Alabama. This position is responsible for conducting individual and/or family therapy sessions within the family’s home setting or other approved settings according to the Individualized Service Plan (ISP), Treatment Plan and 1878. This position is needed in the following areas: Birmingham, Cullman, Montgomery, Mobile, Wilcox County, and in Anniston/Oxford.

***Active ALC, LPC, LMSW, or LICSW Required***

Essential job duties (not all-inclusive):

  • Become knowledgeable of the therapy services needed for all assigned clients by reviewing physical files, electronic files in the Welligent Client Management System, and consultation with supervisor;
  • Ensure services delivered are compliant with all applicable standards, policies, contracts, and accrediting bodies;
  • Plan, integrate, and coordinate child/family services with the members of the Treatment Team, to include DHR, the child and family;
  • Develop crisis plans, behavior plans, and safety plans;
  • Develop initial treatment plans and be an active participant of all 90 day treatment plan reviews;
  • Provide required therapy services to all assigned clients, up to 20 clients; This caseload size includes clients in Therapeutic Foster Care and in the Intensive In-Home Program.
  • Ensure services provided are aligned with the client’s ISP and treatment plan;
  • Enter timely, well-written client session/case notes in the Welligent Client Management System (Welligent), per policy. This requires documenting all notes immediately after the session by utilizing the Welligent Express App or website, and before conducting your next session. All other time worked must be documented in Welligent on same day worked.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

4 years direct experience in child-welfare is required.

Essential Duties (not all-inclusive)

Represent the agency in the community.

Delegate appropriate responsibilities to other staff.

Assist in the recruitment of qualified staff.

Supervise, train, and separate staff.

Assist the governing board in implementing its responsibilities by:

Interpreting the needs of the children,

Making recommendations for needed policy changes

Assisting in the periodic evaluations of the agency’s services,

Assist Corporate Management in preparing the annual budget for approval, and

Providing information regarding financial needs.

Ensure processes are in place to monitor and meet the performance requirements per the contract.

Perform the duties of the Child Placement Supervisor, when needed.
